Bladder Problems More Common in Arthritis Patients, Study Shows
14 Feb 2025 • Individuals with arthritis face a 37% higher likelihood of developing overactive bladder (OAB), with osteoarthritis (OA) showing the strongest association, according to a new analysis of NHANES data from 2005–2020.
Among 24,436 participants, those with OA had a 40% greater risk of OAB, while rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis did not show a significant correlation.
Researchers suggest that joint degeneration and bladder dysfunction may share underlying inflammatory or neurological pathways.
