Insulin Resistance Score Could Forecast Cardiovascular Disease in Arthritis Patients
27 Jan 2025 • Insulin resistance metabolic score (METS-IR) could serve as a reliable predictor of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in arthritis patients, suggests study.
Key Findings: -A 36% higher risk of CVD was associated with each quartile increase in METS-IR (HR = 1.36). -The highest quartile showed a 63% greater risk of CVD compared to the lowest quartile (HR = 1.63), demonstrating a significant dose-response relationship.
METS-IR has proven to be an effective tool for assessing cardiovascular risk in arthritis patients, offering new opportunities for early detection and prevention strategies. Incorporating the insulin resistance score into clinical care could help reduce the risk of both arthritis-related complications and cardiovascular diseases.
