Dr. Agrata Sharma

Dr. Agrata Sharma

Assistant Professor @ AIIMS , Bhopal

A study will be conducted to evaluate the role of Greater Occipital Nerve Block (GON) in patients with medication overuse headache presenting to the Neurology OPD at AIIMS. This interventional, correctional study will include patients diagnosed with medication overuse headache resulting from chronic overuse of abortive headache medications. All enrolled patients will receive three Greater Occipital Nerve Blocks administered at monthly intervals. Migraine-related disability will be assessed at baseline and at the end of the three-month study period. The need for abortive headache medication during the study duration will also be evaluated. Additionally, changes in headache frequency, intensity, and overall quality of life will be assessed. The study aims to explore the effectiveness of GON block as a therapeutic strategy to break the cycle of medication overuse and chronic headache disability.

Dr. Pawan Kumar

Demonstrator @ Tezpur Medical College & Hospital , Tezpur

A study will be conducted to assess the impact of depression and anxiety on migraine-related quality of life, symptom severity, and healthcare utilization among adult migraine patients in a tertiary care hospital in Assam, India. This hospital-based cross-sectional observational study will include patients aged 18–45 years diagnosed with migraine according to ICHD-3 criteria attending the Psychiatry OPD. Data will be collected using validated tools including the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), Migraine Disability Assessment (MIDAS), and HIT-6 questionnaire, along with self-reported healthcare utilization measures. Statistical analysis will examine associations between psychiatric comorbidities and migraine severity, quality of life, and healthcare use. Ethical approval and informed consent will be obtained prior to participation. The study aims to generate region-specific evidence to support integrated neuro-psychiatric care and early screening of psychiatric comorbidities in migraine management.

Dr. Raj Kumar Sahu

Dr. Raj Kumar Sahu

Assistant Professor @ ESIC Medical College and Hospital , New Delhi

A study will be conducted to identify and compare the safety and efficacy of prophylactic agents in the prevention of migraine headache among adult patients attending the Psychiatry OPD at ESIC Medical College and Hospital, New Delhi. A prospective, randomized, placebo-controlled, parallel-group study design will include patients aged 18–60 years diagnosed with episodic migraine as per International Headache Society criteria. Participants will be randomized to receive flunarizine, propranolol, topiramate, sodium valproate, amitriptyline, or placebo for a period of three months. Data will be collected through clinical assessments and patient-reported outcomes to evaluate changes in monthly migraine days. Additional outcomes will assess migraine severity, quality of life using the MIDAS score, and safety through adverse event reporting. The study aims to generate evidence relevant to the Indian population to guide optimal migraine prophylaxis.

Dr. Shweta Awasthi

Postgraduate Trainee @ Manipal Hospital , EM Bypass , Kolkata

A study will be conducted to assess the burden of delayed pain relief and impaired functional recovery associated with different routes of administration in acute migraine treatment in the emergency department. A prospective observational study design will be undertaken in a tertiary care emergency department in Kolkata, including adults diagnosed with migraine as per ICHD-3 criteria. Acute migraine treatments administered via oral, intranasal, or parenteral routes will be analyzed based on the treating physician's discretion. Data will be collected on pain intensity using the Numerical Rating Scale and functional activity status at predefined time points up to four hours. The primary outcomes will include time to meaningful pain relief (≥50% pain reduction) and functional recovery within four hours. Secondary outcomes will assess pain freedom, symptom resolution, adverse events, recurrence, and revisit rates. The study aims to generate real-world Indian evidence on how route of administration impacts acute migraine outcomes in emergency care settings.

Dr. Suranjana Basak

Dr. Suranjana Basak

Consultant Neurologist @ Medicover Hospitals , Mumbai

A study will be conducted to evaluate prescription patterns in migraine patients with co-existing psychiatric comorbidities such as anxiety, depression, and somatoform disorders. This cross-sectional observational study will involve a retrospective review of outpatient and inpatient neurology records. Data will be collected on patient demographics, headache characteristics, psychiatric diagnoses, acute and preventive medications prescribed, treatment adherence, and response patterns. Semi-structured clinician interviews will explore factors influencing prescribing decisions, perceived barriers, and interdisciplinary workflows. Quantitative findings will be complemented by thematic analysis to contextualize prescribing trends and their alignment with clinical guidelines. The study aims to identify gaps and opportunities to optimize individualized migraine management through improved neurology–psychiatry collaboration.
