One in Three Rheumatoid Arthritis Patients Has Metabolic Syndrome
14 Oct 2025 • A global meta-analysis found that nearly one in three patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) had metabolic syndrome (MetS), with a pooled prevalence of 30.3%.
Meta-regression identified waist circumference, BMI, triglycerides, and fasting glucose as major contributors, while higher HDL levels were protective.
These findings underscore the strong link between chronic inflammation and cardiometabolic risk in RA, highlighting the need for routine metabolic screening and comprehensive cardiovascular risk management in this population.
