Acidosis Strongly Predicts Death in Pulmonary Hypertension Patients
5 Sept 2025 • In a cohort of 2,530 critically ill patients with pulmonary hypertension (PH), acidosis emerged as a strong predictor of in-hospital mortality.
Key Findings:
- Of 247 deaths, those with acidosis had markedly worse outcomes, with logistic regression showing high mortality risk (OR 5.53, 5.56, and 2.19 across adjusted models), independent of factors like sepsis and renal function.
- Subgroup analyses confirmed acidosis as a stable risk factor, underscoring the importance of vigilant acid–base monitoring and timely intervention in PH patients to improve survival outcomes.
