Heart Disease Tied to 54% Higher Risk of Peripheral Artery Disease

8 Aug 2025 • Cardiovascular disease (CVD) increases the risk of peripheral arterial disease (PAD) by 54% (adjusted OR = 1.54), according to a study of 6,123 adults (mean age: 59.9 years).

This association held across all subgroups, even after adjusting for factors like smoking, diabetes, hypertension, and physical activity.

The findings highlight CVD as an independent risk factor for PAD, emphasizing the need for integrated vascular risk management.
