Lung Ultrasound Proves Effective for Detecting Interstitial Lung Disease in Rheumatoid Arthritis
1 Aug 2025 • Lung ultrasound (LUS) is a reliable, non-invasive tool for detecting interstitial lung disease (ILD) in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients, showing 83.33% concordance with high-resolution CT (HRCT).
Key Findings:
- It demonstrated high sensitivity (86.84%) and specificity (77.27%). RA-ILD patients had significantly more B-lines (median 34.0 vs 6.5).
- A cutoff of ≥12 B-lines across 50 sites yielded an AUC of 0.89, with 85.53% sensitivity and 81.82% specificity, supporting LUS as an effective early screening method for RA-ILD.
