Analysis of more than 4,400 participants found a 48% higher likelihood of LUTS/BPH at baseline (OR 1.48). In over 3,100 men followed for seven years, arthritis also predicted incident LUTS/BPH, with odds rising to roughly 1.6 (OR 1.53–1.63).

With both conditions common in aging men, clinicians may need heightened vigilance for urinary symptoms in patients with arthritis.
