Rheumatoid Arthritis Tied to Higher Kidney Stone Risk

11 Jul 2025 • A recent study of 19,904 adults found that kidney stones (KS) were twice as common in those with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) vs. those without (17.0% vs. 8.1%).

After adjusting for multiple confounders, RA remained significantly associated with increased KS risk (adjusted OR = 1.77). The link persisted across all subgroups, suggesting a robust association.

While causality can't be confirmed, KS may be an underrecognized comorbidity in RA patients.
