Overweight and Obesity Associated With Improved Survival in Metastatic Prostate Cancer
20 Aug 2025 • In metastatic prostate cancer, overweight and obesity were linked to significantly better overall survival than normal weight.
Adjusted hazard ratios (HR) were 0.81 for overweight and 0.78 for obesity, with an even greater survival benefit in metastatic castration-resistant cases (HR 0.78 and 0.73, respectively).
Each one-unit increase in BMI corresponded to a 4% improvement in survival.
These findings challenge conventional views, suggesting that higher BMI may confer a survival advantage in this patient population.
