Faster Recanalization After Thrombolysis Boosts Stroke Recovery
13 Oct 2025 • In patients with anterior circulation large-vessel occlusion stroke treated with intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) plus endovascular therapy (EVT), shorter thrombolysis-to-recanalization time (TRT) was strongly associated with better outcomes.
Among those achieving complete reperfusion, patients with TRT ≤ 170 minutes had significantly higher rates of favorable 90-day recovery (70.7% vs 50.6%; aOR 2.92) and excellent outcomes (59.8% vs 40%; aOR 2.86).
A linear relationship between shorter TRT and improved outcomes was confirmed, emphasizing the importance of minimizing TRT to optimize the benefits of bridging IVT + EVT in acute ischemic stroke.
