Atopic Dermatitis Associated with Increased Risk of Chronic Kidney Disease
14 Jul 2025 • A study of over 75,000 individuals found that patients with atopic dermatitis (AD) had a 30% increased risk of developing chronic kidney disease (CKD) compared to matched controls (adjusted OR = 1.30).
The risk was consistent across all ages and sexes, with a clear dose-response relationship—more frequent AD-related clinic visits correlated with higher CKD risk.
Findings highlight the need for renal monitoring in AD patients due to its potential systemic effects.
