J-Shaped Association Between Serum Vitamin E and Cardiovascular Risk

8 Jul 2025 • A J-shaped relationship between serum vitamin E levels and cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk has been observed in a recent study.

Researchers found that while low vitamin E concentrations (<85.24 µg/dL) hinted at a modest protective trend (OR: 0.968), only high levels were significantly associated with increased risk.

Once above the 85.24 µg/dL threshold, the odds of CVD rose sharply (OR: 1.056), with those in the highest concentration group showing a 4.18-fold increased risk.

The findings underscore the importance of maintaining vitamin E within an optimal physiological range, highlighting a nuanced balance in antioxidant therapy.
