Vaginal Progesterone in Twin Pregnancies Shows No Lasting Impact on Child Development
6 May 2025 • A follow-up study of dichorionic twins from a randomized trial on vaginal progesterone use for preterm birth prevention found no significant effects on psychopathological or cognitive profiles at ages 6–9.
Children exposed to 200 mg or 400 mg/day of vaginal progesterone showed no differences in Child Behavior Checklist scores and Raven’s test percentiles compared to placebo, suggesting no impact on mental health or cognitive development.
