Elevated Triglycerides and Dyslipidemia Double Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Risk
20 Mar 2025 • A Chinese study revealed a strong association between abnormal lipid profiles and non-alcoholic fatty liver (NAFL).
Individuals with elevated triglyceride (TG) (OR: 2.27) and dyslipidemia (OR: 2.28) had more than twice the risk of NAFL, while LDL-C (OR: 1.65), HDL-C (OR: 1.56), and total cholesterol (OR: 1.45) also showed increased odds. Researchers observed a dose-dependent relationship for TG and HDL-C, reinforcing their impact on NAFL risk.
C-reactive protein showed no mediating effect, highlighting the need for lipid management in NAFL prevention.
