LDH-to-Albumin Ratio Emerges as a Promising Prognostic Marker in Neonatal Sepsis
1 May 2025 • A new study highlights the lactate dehydrogenase-to-albumin ratio (LAR) as a potent predictor of mortality in neonatal sepsis.
The study confirmed LAR as an independent risk factor (HR 11.236) and revealed strong predictive performance, with an area under the curve of 0.806 overall, 0.842 for early-onset sepsis, and 0.737 for late-onset cases. At an optimal cutoff of 23.72, LAR demonstrated 88.2% specificity and 70.0% sensitivity.
These findings position LAR as a clinically useful, easily accessible biomarker for risk stratification in neonatal sepsis.
