25 Mar 2025 • The implementation of a hub-and-spoke STEMI care system integrating telemedicine via WhatsApp significantly enhanced guideline-directed revascularization in South Indian STEMI patients.

The program linked 18 PCI-capable government medical college hospitals with 188 non-PCI hospitals, using WhatsApp groups for real-time STEMI management guidance.

Over four years (2019–2023), 71,907 STEMI patients were treated, with a remarkable 67% annual increase in treatment volume. Pharmaco-invasive therapy usage surged from 7.9% to 31.7%, and primary PCI rates climbed by 68%.
