Every Second Counts: Faster Dispatcher-Assisted CPR Boosts Survival in Cardiac Arrest
22 May 2025 • A retrospective study of 3,861 cardiac arrest cases found that delays in starting dispatcher-assisted CPR (DA-CPR) significantly reduced chances of 30-day survival with good neurological outcomes.
Key Findings:
- Patients were grouped based on the time from emergency call to DA-CPR start: short (0–179 sec), medium (180–239 sec), and long (≥240 sec).
- Compared to the short group, adjusted odds of good neurological survival dropped by 18% in the medium group (OR 0.82) and by 37% in the long group (OR 0.63).
The study showed a clear dose-response relationship—every second counts in cardiac emergencies.
