Lymph Node Dissection Boosts Survival in NMIBC Cystectomy Patients

11 Jul 2025 • In 1,950 non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) patients undergoing cystectomy, examining ≥8 lymph nodes significantly improved survival [HR: 0.66 (0.59–0.76)], even when nodes were negative [HR: 0.73 (0.61–0.87)].

Key Findings:

  • The benefit was most notable in T1 and Tis stages, with no gain seen in Ta tumors.
  • Survival advantage persisted post-matching and in patients over 80.

Findings support ≥8-node retrieval as a surgical benchmark to optimize outcomes.
