AI-Based Quantification of Infarct Volume Predicts Clinical Outcomes in Acute Ischemic Stroke
21 Mar 2025 • An AI-powered algorithm quantifying infarct volume (FIV) has been shown to forecast clinical outcomes in acute ischemic stroke patients following thrombectomy.
In the study, FIV was strongly correlated with both functional recovery at 90 days (modified Rankin Scale) and neurological status 24 hours post-stroke (NIH Stroke Scale). Other factors such as ischemic injury, hemorrhagic transformation, and infarct growth were also linked to patient outcomes.
These findings support the use of FIV as a key tool in acute ischemic stroke management.
